Ballet, Parties and Ikea

Today was full. I'm now sitting down with a glass of wine and watching The Bachelor. It is the end. I can't hear it because the heat blocking out any sound, but sound is not crucial to the context. The girls have that "I can't believe he didn't f'ing pick me" look on their faces. Liquor fueled pep talks to the camera and some hysterical crying will no doubt follow. Oh! And there they are!

But back to my day.

The day started with Sofia's first ballet class at 9:30. She has taken the class before, but we've been on a sort of sabbatical since we moved. Sofia was shy at first, but quickly jumped right in and was jumping and toe walking and twirling. She really does seem to like dancing, so it's fun to see her shaking her groove thing.

After returning home for some lunch and some quiet time, we headed out again to a Princess Party. Sofia was dressed as Snow White and was greeted by 8 other 4 year olds, all in their princess regalia. Also in attendance was the real deal, Aurora herself. She was quite the renaissance princess - face painting, balloon animals, singing, story telling and spell casting were all part of her repertoire. Sofia ended up looking like a drag queen and ran out of the room in a panic when Aurora started casting spells, but overall, a good time was had by all.

After the party, I headed to Ikea with a non-napped child on Saturday afternoon. You can imagine how that went, I probably don't have to get into the gory details other than to say it got ugly and was not something I would recommend.
