Dessert & Wine Round Table

Last night was divine. My neighbor H. (mom of kids aged 6,5,3 and 1) invited me to attend a local workshop at our library and who am I to pass up an opportunity to get out of the house.

There were about seven of us women, all of us having at least 2 children age 6 and under. We attended the "Positive Discipline" class at the library and then hightailed it over to our local downtown Italian restaurant for dessert and wine.

We sat at a round table, a la "This Week" and all took turns exchanging experiences, anecdotes, advice and laughter. It was so awesome, I think all of us felt a collective bonding occurring and we are going to try and make it a monthly event.

Morning Glory

So, I started the day with the alarm going off at 6:30 a.m. I'm not sure why it was set for Sunday morning, but knowing how mixed up my days have been, I'm sure I was the culprit.

I got up to use the bathroom and was feeling pretty awake, so decided to forego going back to bed and start my day.

I threw on my running shoes, some jeans and a hoodie and headed out for a walk. I had only walked about half a block when I saw the breathtaking moon, high and bright in the dawn morning sky.



I turned around to get my camera. With the camera and coffee, I had one of the best walks I've had in months. The morning was glorious. A warm breeze filled the air and I just knew it was going to be one of those teaser days. A day that makes you think spring is right around the corner when in reality, it's months away.







I thought this bird was a cut out until I got a bit closer and realized it was real.
And yes, that is a tail hanging out of its mouth. Ah, the food chain, up close and personal!

I did it

Ok, I did it. I am soooooo tired of spending my day off cleaning. I hate cleaning. Hate.cleaning.Hate.it.

I finally got an estimate for a housecleaner. She came in an hour and she's set for next Wednesday. I'm assuming she needs clients in this economy.

If she does a good job, I'll have her come very other Wednesday for a very reasonable amount, in my opinion. I can deal with that. It will give me some time to spend with the boys. We can go to the park or playdate without my thinking I have to clean, clean, clean. Maybe I will even have time unpack or *OMG* organize???????

I am so happy about that. Yey!

Time for a Haircut?

Weekend highlights: (Pam, totally blatant stealing of your idea)

Friday - Went to movie night in the park. The feature was "Arctic Tale." Arrived at 6 p.m. and by 8 p.m., I was ready to leave. I left Steve and Sofia there and took the boys home, only to be greeted by him one hour later. He said he couldn't deal with all the global warming propaganda. Ay-yi-yi. This is what I get for marrying a conservative.

Saturday -- In the morning, I picked up a dresser from Craigslist as well as a Kangaroo Climber which is currently residing in my living room. The boys adore it. Every time they wake up from a nap, they get a look as if to say "Yey! It's still here." It's awesome as they love it so much, it's keeping them from getting into the 50 million other things they typically get into.

I think I already mentioned gymnastics. Late afternoon, had dinner with the family of Sofia's friend from pre-school, a.k.a. "the other Sofia." In addition to having a daughter named Sofia born 3 wks after ours and a son born 10 days before our twins, they are coming upon their 5th anniversary, which is September 13th, same as ours. Great minds do think alike!

Sunday -- The usual, grocery shopping and laundry, swim lessons. This afternoon, escaped to a movie with a friend I haven't seen in 18 months. It was nice to catch up. We saw Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It was eh. Great acting, but overly sentimental (I am such a sap for storylines involving crazy mothers and family secrets)

Another busy week. Not sure what is going on with the house sitch, but I have my fingers crossed on a scenario. Trying not to get my hopes up.

Oh yeah, I think it's time for David to get a haircut. He's beginning to resemble this clown from from Million Dollar Listing...(and seriously? I work in real estate and there is no.way.on.god's.green.earth any of the high end owners we deal with would list their house with this Joey Ramone knock off. L.A. is so ridiculous!!)
