Shiver Me Timbers - More Awards!

Well shiver my timbers. I've been nominated for an award. My friend Heather over at A Spare and A Pare (a fellow 3 under 2 alumni) has nominated my blog and wow, thank you, Heather! I agree, H. -- us twins and especially us twins plus have to stick together! Thank you so much!

So now, I have to nominate a few of my favorite blogs. Here are the rules

1. Have to post the smoking cool, fantastic, fabulous Logo (as seen above)

2. Nominate some folks for their blogs (all about sharing love in the bloggy blog world right?)

3. Have to hyper link your nominees....so others can go check them out too...see what all the fuss is about!

4. You must tell your nominee that they WON! Hello? How would they know if you didn't comment on their blog.

5. Finally Hyperlink the blogger who gave you such a wonderful gift.

So *drumroll please* --- Here are the nominees....

The Meanest Mom -- Mother to at one time, 3 children under 1 yr old. That's right, 3 under 1. Whenever I think I'm having a rough day, I think of how as hard as 3 under 2 was, 3 under 1 had to be infinitely more challenging and she made it through with her kick ass, sarcastic sense of humor intact. She now has a 4th baby and honestly, her blog is one of the funniest, sharpest blogs out there.

Breed 'em and Weep - Come on, the title alone gets me. In all seriousness, this is probably one of the most well written blogs out there - brutally honest and gritty, something I appreciate.

Bagmomma - A blog written by a Michelle, a cyber friend I've come to know and love. She has been on a heartbreaking journey towards having a second child for way too long now, but I feel fortunate to have taken the journey with her. When not battling secondary infertility, she writes wonderful, witty prose and is always on the hunt for the perfect handbag.

I Really Don't See the Resemblance

Apparently, Miss Piggy was a guest on the view today. A thoroughly modern Millie (or whatever her real name is) she was there to tout The Diva Code, The: Miss Piggy on Life, Love, and the 10,000 Idiotic Things Men Frogs Do (Hardcover).

Yes, I am serious.

I was bombarded with questions from Sofia. "Is there someone under the table?"

"Yes, " Steve said. What a buzzkill.

Sign #347 (as if I needed one) that my being on Weight Watchers is a good thing?

William repeatedly pointing to the screen with Miss Piggy and saying "Ma-ma! Ma-ma!"

Oy vey.

Thursday -- The Best Day of the Week

I am playing along with Happy Thursday -- thanks to Goddessinprogress.

I love Thursdays. Since September 2005, when I returned to work after having Sofia, it has been my day off. It's the perfect day off. Over the years, I have considered asking for Friday off instead, (Mondays are a no-go - the most important day of the week in real estate) but thought better of it. I love having a little mini weekend in the middle of the week. Just knowing that I only have to get through 3 days of work until having a day off helps keep me sane. I have switched days to Friday off a few times and working 4 days in a row as opposed to 3 was brutal.

Back in my youth (and by youth, I mean twenties), Thursday was the beginning of the weekend. It meant going out somewhere low key, just to warm things up a bit before the big partying of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Maybe a drink after work, maybe dinner and a movie, but something.

Back in the DAY (meaning my late teens and early twenties), Thursday meant Knots Landing was on. That was HUGE. My friends and I would get together with some popcorn and wine coolers (it was the 80's after all) and pore over the antics of Val, Karen and Greg Sumner. Oh yeah, those were the days.

In addition to being my day off in today's world, it's also the day after LOST and when I usually spend a little too much online time reading about what I just watched, possibly watching the epi again when I have a moment, taking notes and reading some online theories some more.

Thursday really is my favorite day.

Little Pink Riding Hood Cries Wolf?

12 p.m., a call from Sofia's pre-school. The call I was hoping might come, but praying would not.

Apparently, my daughter (who by the way, refuses to only wear dresses nowadays and god love her, I wish I had a photo of the get-up she had on this morning) is running a fever and her ear hurts. She has been telling me her ear hurts for a few days, but based on her pointing to her earlobe when I ask her where it hurts - then goes on about a bug in her ear and a potential doctor visit involving stickers, I have not taken her seriously.

Her teacher sounded concerned. I began to explain that Sofia's brothers have ear infections, she wants to have one too, yada yada, but she didn't seem too interested in any of that. I was instructed to pick her up as soon as possible.

Fast forward a few hours and yet another doctor visit later - Sofia did not have a fever and does not have an ear infection. *sigh* I'm glad to hear that she doesn't, but it's so hard to tell if she is crying wolf and I'd hate her to really be in pain as I know how excruciating that particular pain can be.

Ah, well. Just another day in the life of a mom to three in the heart of cold and flu season.

Tonight is Lost, so all is good in the world.

Way Back When-sday - Grandpa Dave & Sofia

For this Way Back When-sday, I have decided to share a video.

This is a video of my father and Sofia at my nephew's birthday party. May 20, 2006.

It was the last time I saw my father alive. He died very unexpectedly about a month later (on Father's Day.) Sofia was a little over one year old and within 2 more months, I'd be pregnant with twins.

There aren't even words as to what this video conjures up for me, but I am so glad I have it.

Manny Down

So, apparently, Steve is not as God like as I'd anticipated. He's home sick as a dog. Fortunately for him, the boys are better and able to go to daycare and Sofia is in pre-school. So, Mr. Manny has the whole day to languish in bed, being sick and watching old Streets of San Francisco reruns. It's the simple things.

Oh What a Night

I was woken up several times last night by a screaming William. "Mah! Mah! Mahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" was his mantra. Finally, at 4:30 a.m., he decided he was going to start the day.

He did not want his binky, he did not want a bottle. He did not want to lay down. I brought him in my bed, but he did not want to lay down in my bed either. The only way he was happy was to sit on my lap, forward facing, clinging to me like a little monkey. When I attempted to lay down with him in this position, or put a blanket on top of us (it was in the 30's outside) he screamed "NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I have to admit I am spoiled in the sleep department. Anyone who knows me knows what a sleep freak I am. Despite a rocky first 3 months with the twins, they have been on a schedule since early on - slept through the night since about 10 weeks old. 99.5% of the time, they sleep 12-13 hrs and I don't hear a peep from them.

This was obviously one of the .5% nights.

Considering how much moms go through with little ones and sleep issues, I probably shouldn't even complain, but I'm tiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrred. I don't do sleep deprivation very well. The one time I had severe sleep deprivation (first month of the twins' life) I ended up in the hospital and almost died. Yes, I am a wimp.

Anyway, back to William.

I finally gave up. I just let him lay in bed with Dad while I got ready for work (he cried the whole time, btw), then made all 3 children breakfast. I was concerned about his ear infection, so brought him with me and took him to the drop in pediatrician's office before work. His ear doesn't look any worse, so I was glad to hear that, I guess. Now, I'm just hoping that whatever caused his all night freak out doesn't repeat itself tonight.

So, here I am. At work. Tired. That said, I think I would rather be here than at home right now.
