Why Does it Rain?

It's been a very busy few months.

Between work, Easter, baby showers, birthday parties, ballet, soccer & the usual litany of doctor's appointments, things have been mucho-chaotic around the Keefe household.

At the twins' 12 month appointment, we discovered that David is quite small - 17 lbs, while William is closer to average, around 20 lbs. William eats like a horse, but David is incredibly picky, so it's a challenge trying to find things that he'll eat. I'm trying all sorts of things and getting quite adept at hiding foods within foods as he rejects many veggies and fruits. They are both cruising quite a bit, but no walkers yet. They say "Mama, Baba & Dada" but nothing more than that. That's ok, Sofia talks enough for all of them. Ohhhh, if you only knew....

David is having some issues with whole milk, so we put him back on formula. Then, he had a reaction to peanut butter (he got a hold of Sofia's sandwich and then rubbed it in his eyes and may have eaten some, not sure) which resulted in swollen eyes, labored breathing and a trip to the ER. It was really, really scary, but we were sent on our way with a dose of bendryl, a nebulizer treatment and a stern warning to avoid any peanut relatd products until we are able to meet with an allergist. My poor little excema sportin' allergic nugget.

Sofia continues to blossom in ballet. Once she got past the profound fear of being left there, she seemed to thrive and enjoy it quite a bit. She seems to follow directions well, so I am pleased to see that. William claps and dances, David enjoys throwing food and his bottle at every opportunity. As of this past weekend, all 3 children are sleeping in the nursery together. This s HUGE. As always, it's getting pretty tight in this house, but for the time being, we are making it work.

This weekend is the big birthday PARTAY which I will hopefully be seeing some of you at. It's going to be so much fun and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Couldn't let you go without a funny Sofia story, which is a great example of what life is like with Miss Thang these days. We went to Starbucks on Saturday morning. This has become our little ritual. We get there around 8:30 a.m. for a little mommy-Sofia bonding time before ballet at 9 a.m. I sat her down at a table and told her I'd be right back. I proceeded to order our usual. Venti nonfat latte and reduced fat turkey sandwich for me, petite scone and apple juice for her.

When I returned to the table, she had made friends with the two women sitting right behind us. She was batting her eyes and telling them our life story, apparently. They knew her name was Sofia, that she had baby brothers and that her birthday was coming up. I'm surprised she didn't invite them to the party.

So, we go back and forth with them, eating our breakfast and politely chatting. As they are leaving, they make a point to stop and say "She is just delightful. She has quite a command of the English language for a 2 year old."

I laughed and said "Actually, she's almost 3."

"Oh, we know," they said. "She told us she is '2.5 but going to be 3 next week.'"

Sofia regularly asks me "DO YOU HAVE ANY MONEY?" Not sure why.

This weekend, I was quite hungover (thanks to a reunion I attended the night before) when Sofia decided to ask me, "MOMMY? WHY DOES IT RAIN?"
